Canali AW17 Menswear Campaign

The protagonist: a modern man who’s elegance is manifest in every occasion, interpreted in this case by the model Mathias Lauridsen, wearing key looks from the AW17 collection with styling by Emil Rebek.

The collection meets the needs of gentlemen who prefer to maintain a level of sophistication in both formal and relaxed contexts, without sacrificing either comfort or style.
A contemporary aesthetic characterised by clean lines, where iconic fabrics from the grand tradition of men’s’ tailoring intertwine and overlap, giving rise to new and unexpected patterns and motifs.

A palette of saturated colours: plum, browns from natural to burnt; white and black, and a myriad of gradations of grey, which enhance the texture and preciousness of natural fibres like cashmere, chinchilla and Vicuna.

Tailoring is the essence of Canali style and elegance, and remains the absolute protagonist in every single image of the Autumn Winter 2017 campaign.

Oliver Spencer AW17 - Tough Love

For AW17, designer Oliver Spencer wanted to toughen up his designs and so named his collection ‘Tough Love’.

Inspired by pared-back modern day menswear, he has created a collection with straightforward silhouettes whilst using an eclectic array of fabrics and textures.

Main colour palette of neutral greys, navy and blacks are accented by two completely different colour contrasts:

One a bold autumnal burst of burnt orange and forest green. Colours you expect to see in an Autumn/Winter collection – earthy, masculine and grown up

The second is of dusky summer tones. Shades of delicate powder blue and blush pink more associated with femininity and lightness. Here Spencer wanted to make a statement and prove even tough boys can were pink.

Patterns include tailored Blackwatch tartan and fun wide horizontal zigzag stripes on sweaters.

The collection is softened by deconstructed and washed fabrics including soft velvet, corduroy and wool with contrasting leather.

Oliver’s signature cropped trousers are seen throughout, paired alongside new long-line jackets, roll neck jumpers and stacked sole plimsolls.

Oversized parka coats are introduced to the collection with a versatile ergonomic design, allowing the coat to be carried over the back like a rucksack when not being worn thus leaving the wearer’s hands free for his mobile and racing newspaper.

Key pieces include: Soft leather bomber with contrasting shearling collar, oversized parka coats and powder blue polo necks.

Chester Barrie Autumn Winter 2017 at London Fashion Week

Chester Barrie’s Autumn Winer 2017 collection blends opulence, elegance and sophistication to create a collection that lends an air of authority and brings a sense of style to gentleman who know the value of a good dressing.

Occasionwear celebrates the ultra-classic by adding a contemporary sophistication to tuxedos and smoking jackets.

Velvets in chocolate, navy and coal black are fashioned into modern smoking jackets with rich, deep Mogador shawl collars in complementary tones

This is dresswear for when it matters most; for the Red Carpet, society balls and glamorous weddings.

Colour and texture are to the fore in the Chester Barrie jacket collection. Urban tweeds have drape and warmth and come in petrol blue, russet and moss green as well as the more classic hues. Checks and tartans also play their part bringing highlight tones and surface interest.

The standout piece though is the camel blazer – a very modern interpretation of an almost forgotten classic. The highlight item in the coat department for AW17 is a cashmere change coat with faux fur collar and lapels.

The Chester Barrie tailoring story majors on bringing gravitas to suit wearing. English and Italians cloths (including some luxurious West Country flannels) have substance but are soft to the touch. Texture is an important element – especially with tweeds and Prince of Wales checks – but it is the construction that makes it distinctive. Structured suits are strong of shoulder and sculpted at the chest; the unstructured tailoring moulds to the body without restricting movement. Both flatter and enhance; the shallow armhole allows for greater freedom of movement and a trimmer appearance.
