New Shoe Brand Freakloset arrives at LFW catwalk with SIBLING

Freakloset is a new shoe brand from Portugal, worked in partnership with SIBLING to create footwear tailored around the designs and colours of SIBLING's AW17 collection. For this collaboration, Freakloset used their advanced bespoke customization system.

“SIBLING loved working with Freakloset because their brand values are the same as ours, especially twisting classics and a playful use of colour. Plus, it’s great fun designing your own footwear! You can make something totally individual to you (in our case navy and red uppers and backs with white or red soles working with our AW17 colour pallet) or order matching shoes as Sid and I did”, said Cozette McCreery, Director of SIBLING.

Freakloset aims to reinvent classic, iconic and timeless footwear, making it fully customizable with vibrant colors and new materials.

Sibling AW17 Menswear

This season Sibling, take inspiration from Barcelona's Park Guell, where Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi's iconic mosaics is most in evidence.

Dubbed by the designers as Mental Mosaic, graphics are taken directly from the tiles whilst rich orange navy and red are thrown at each other in abandon across tailored suits, bomber jackets and full blown skirts. The tiles are also blown up out of proportion to cover hand knits. Knit ruffles scroll across the shoulders almost Toreador sweater.

Gaudi zebra stripes are rendered in sequined navy and red or slashed across a classic cardigan.
An abstract take on a leopards tail wends its way across a jumper or creates havoc with tailoring (replete with matching old man's flat cap).

It's in the accessories that Sibling's englishness appears: from flat cap, knitted Lady Di ruffled collar, to a hat fit for Babs Windsor at a wedding, plus London's pearly Kings and Queens.

Sibling's collision of periods, colours and styles are their nod to Jamaican lee Scratch Perry, Full knit looks feature stripes in red and blue dissected by coloured bands.

Topman Menswear Rules Britannia with NewGen Designers

Topman launches a t-shirt collection to celebrate and support home-grown British talent.
Five NewGen designers were asked to create a t-shirt designed around the title ‘Menswear Rules Britannia’. Their take on this title was then produced on premium white roll-sleeved cotton tee, prices start at £18
Here's their designs:

Katie Eary

Describing herself as a true British patriot,  'Menswear Rules Britannia' means everything to her, she thinks her design sums this up perfectly. The print derives from two of her favourite things, the screaming cheetah (she loves anything from the feline family) and British military - in this case a Queen’s guards hat.

Sibling

The newly recruited NewGen Men collective Sibling (Sid Bryan, Joe Bates and Cozette McCreery) designed a print that is reminiscent of a souvenir from a weekend away or a fun day out. It is a knitted twist on a celebratory, quintessentially English memento of youthful camaraderie. In the synonymously British colours of red, white, and blue this t-shirt screams ‘Menswear Rules Britannia’.

 James Long

The Fashion Forward 2012 winner designed a print based around all the different layers and history of being British. On close inspection you can see that Long has subtlety worked the Union Jack flag into his print.(better seen in the lifestyle image -check out the first straight line after the zig zags)

 Lou Dalton

Dalton commissioned Alex Walker to hand draw faces of British Icons for her quirky design, sketches include: Elton John, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie among a few, all whom she felt have influenced British popular culture over the years.

and Christopher Shannon.

Renowned for re-working sportswear, Shannon has designed a t-shirt using his trademark all-over print design. This design uses a powerful ‘ MAN UP’ slogan.

£5 from the sale of each t-shirt will go to The British Fashion Council Princess of Wales Charitable Trust to support young designers.

. The project will launch on the 7th June 2012, and will be available in selected stores worldwide and on-line www.topman.com

Sibling AW11 collection went 'Darn the Boozer' at London Fashion Week

It was ‘Darn the Boozer’ for the Sibling’s presentation in the Portico Rooms at Somerset House, taking their inspiration from a knitted pub crawl around East London.  Yes their inspiration came for the names of pubs.
There was the Golden Heart – an embroidered tattoo style heart graced the front of a grey crew neck sweater
and the back of a cardigan whilst spider webs decorated the elbows.
The Bricklayer’s Arms’   insignia was emblazoned on the back and front of a zipped grey cardigan
and again with spider web elbows.
The Red Lion was a thickly embroidered (with wool) lion’s head (in red of course) on a grey sweater.

But my favourite was the George & Dragon in a black and white Fair Isle style pattern with images of St George, the dragon and beer bottles plus crossed cigarettes. This came in a tank, cardigan jacket and scarf.
George, himself, was represented in a suit of woollen armour - the Pauldron sweater with knitted shoulder pieces and leather buckles.
And you see him again in all his armoury splendour in the hooded scarf with its feathery fur emmulating his helmet.
Plus the George drape hooded jacket with detachable zip hood. This is teamed with an Italian made all in one with full lengthe legs and based on army underwear.
There is also the short length with rib detailing and cinch back. to be worn under jeans or dare to wear on its own.
Not to be outdone, the dragon is also here as a sculptural and aptly named dragon stitch hoodie.
Now you may be wondering why the panda balaclava earlier on. Well Sibling always collaborates with an artist every season.
This season it was with the artist named Pure Evil who created 'Panda Rocks' - pandas with sequin Kiss make up.
The collection was very gimmicky so probably not everyone’s cup of tea, or should I say pint of beer.

Sibling Spring/Summer 2011 knitwear collection

Titled 'collection 5', this knitwear label is all about pop art and punk.
There are cashmere twinsets in a splash pattern of vermillion, black, white and yellow,
.....marl grey X Ray Specs jumper with swirling lenses,
oversized vest and jacket adorned with the number 5 in stars,
an ivory and vermillion Knit Pop dot Polo shirt features a micro embroidered leopard dot
and a knitted blue and slate Pop dot sweatshirt with a giant swoosh across the chest like a Sibling super hero.
The word PUNK is emblassened on a vermillion, black, white and yellow jumper and zip front jacket.
For the very brave there are black sweaters with girlfriend from hell or puny undernourished kid slashed over in neon reflective tape.
This bold knitwear label is definitely not for the faint hearted.
