MATTHEW MILLER SPRING-SUMMER 2017 at LONDON COLLECTIONS MEN

SS17 collection looks at the iconic skinhead culture and cloud gazing.
A subtle cloud print is found on ivory cotton and linen

Bleached denim is softened with a pattern of white and grey clouds in a blue sky. This print was inspired by John Constable's  “A Study of Clouds 1871”  a copy of which  hung in Matthew ’s council house in the early 1980s

As ivory represents day, blues and black represent the night.

Miller deconstructs an antique Kimono and a defunct tuxedo, bringing together a mismatch of cultural style and history.

The checkerboard pattern in tones of blue was inspired by the Trojan-skinhead culture in the late '60s

Badges of butterflies adorn the clothes to represent the fleetingness and fragility of beauty..

The phrase 'Negasconic Teenage Warhead' grace the front of t-shirts.

Berthold Spring/Summer 2017 Menswear Presentation

Titled Dimension - SS17 sees a new formal ease and buoyancy to Raimund Berthold's exploration of volume, lightness and scale.

Research began with an archival French army cavalry coat which was wrapped and placed on the body, generating sharp silhouettes from its colossal proportions. From this the collection developed to look at how volume can be controlled, folded and tucked away.

The drape across asymmetric front jackets in engineered lightweight leather is graphic and bold.
The longer line of jersey separates controls the sway of wide legged trousers.

Central to the mood board are images of artworks whose graphic line has been broken, split or interrupted.
Blocks of contrast fabric are used to break up garments.

Technical performance and outerwear fabrics are paired with natural woven cotton and suiting.

There is a structural elegance to the season's knitwear, The fine gauge oversized square T with intarsia contrast stripes and long - line knitted jacket are clean and crisp.

Inspiration: Artist Anish Kapoor's 2010 Ascension (Red) installation at the Guggenheim Museum NY. inspired the collection's breeziness.

Colour palette: red, ivory, steel grey and black.

As in Kapoor's work the red is sober and thoughtful rather than agressive.

The black is natural and uncomplicated.

BELSTAFF LAUNCHES THE JAMES HUNT 40TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION

This year marks 40 years since British sporting legend James Hunt’s legendary Formula One Championship Win at Fuji, Japan in 1976, where he snatched the championship by one dramatic point from fellow racing hero Niki Lauda.

Belstaff wanted to commemorate such an incredible moment in racing history and has unveiled the James Hunt 40th anniversary capsule collection - created in collaboration with his sons Tom and Freddie – celebrating their father’s legacy and indomitable spirit.
The capsule comprises six exclusive pieces referencing Belstaff’s historical outerwear pieces and Hunt’s iconic red race suit with the white horizontal stitching, while also influenced by the racing colours of Hunt’s iconic Hesketh car.
In hand-waxed leather there are two key styles: a four-pocket belted jacket with quilting details on the shoulder and a second shorter shape with two chest pockets. Both formats are lined in the style of Hunt’s iconic race suit, being red with white vertical stitching.
A new soya wax cotton has been introduced on a short cafĂ©-racer blouson, making it an easy-to-wear everyday style.
To accompany the outerwear there is a polo and T-shirt in pop colours with a racer strip on the former, while both carry reproductions of Hunt’s signature.
To complete the look, there are also straight-legged black denim jeans.
This anniversary capsule is at once an ode to James Hunt’s legacy, but also a tribute to the bond shared between fathers and sons in the approach to Father’s Day – this year falling on Sunday, June 19th.
