Lou Dalton SS18 Menswear at London Fashion Week;Mens

For SS18 Dalton looks at the core of what makes a contemporary wardrobe.

Knitwear is at the heart of the collection - fine gauge Merino wool sweaters with exposed seams and tiered contrast cuffs.


Artist John Booth's hand painted vivid stripes are digitally printed onto Merino wool and Sea island cotton sweaters.

John Booth has also created a Lou Dalton logo which is used to dress the chest of both knitwear and jerseys proclaiming Dalton's love of artistic expression.

Colour palette is of indigo blue, white, chocolate and baby blue.

Knitwear has been produced by John Smedly, hats by Bernstock Spiers and sneakers by Converse.

Launching at John Smedley’s inaugural catwalk show at London Fashion Week: Men’s, the brand introduces ‘Precision/Fluidity’, a collection filled with firsts and new design development, yet remaining true to the brands heritage.


 Everyday items have been carefully edited to their essential form and function, freed from distractions to focus on what is important.


 Nuances of tailoring are precisely considered and lead to the introduction of new collar and shirt shapes in menswear and
The pinnacle of the collection includes a John Smedley menswear and womenswear suit, tailored for a sharp finish and featuring the renowned John Smedley’s extra fine merino wool and wild silk lining printed with the emblem of the season, it is a signature style which will be exclusively retailed via the brand’s Jermyn Street store which celebrates it’s one year anniversary on the day of the catwalk.

 John Smedley’s archive providies rich inspiration with an Asian influence for the juxtaposition of fluidity within the collection, with the emblem of the season derived from an original watercolour of Japanese Koi. The watercolour itself brought to England by John Smedley ll in the 1930’s following his first trip to Japan.

John Smedley AW17 menswear - The Compostion of Knit

Raw materials provide the purist of inspirations in John Smedley AW17 collection, with merino wool, natural alpaca, silk, wild boucle and British black sheep's wool.

Knitted abstract patterns and special textures replicate sparse and silent landscapes.


Colour palette is of organic shades: flare orange, Lumsdale and Kielder greens


Crowning the collection is the Black Sheep by John Smedley signature range, designed to celebrate the raw beauty of the natural black fibre. Shapes intended to cosily envelope the wearer - a nod to the farmer garments of old.

Smedley’s knitwear collection was inspired by ski-wear from their 1930-60s archives.
  

 Amongst the jumpers and scarves we see that the thermal ecru long john has been given a fashion makeover with bright colours, stripes and fine soft wool.
