F&F AW15 Menswear Show

F&F showed a preview of their AW15 collection at the plush Savoy hotel in London.
Menswear returns to retro spanning late 60s to the early 70s.

Fabrics and details are nostalgic with leather biker jackets embossed with a vintage polish.

Knit jumpers in burnt amber and orange hues add warmth to charcoal tailoring.
Subtle jacquard stripes decorate the sleekest of grey wool suits.

There is both rustic and contemporary revival as oversized scarves bring a frayed edge to clean cut trench coats and smart wool trousers.

Maintaining a slim and sharp silhouette, blazers are reinvigorated with tweed like textures.

Occasionwear sees black dinner jackets in soft velvet worn with jersey t-shirts splashed with artisan prints.

Opening the show was Paloma Faith:

Aloha to the Hawaiian Shirt

The advantage of the short sleeved shirt is that you can go overboard with the pattern, so why not splash out with the Hawaiian shirt? Well you either love them or you hate them, but they do conjure up images of surf, sea and sand and are making a comeback as a retro summer look.

They look best as a holiday shirt and if you are conscious of your tummy, they make a great cover up with shorts or swimwear whilst on the beach.
Above image is of Tesco F&F Hawaiian shirt at £12 and £16 for the shorts.
Originally called the ‘Aloha’ shirt, Chinese merchant Ellery Chun and his sister started creating these brightly coloured floral shirts in the 1930’s from kimono fabric which soon became a hit with the tourists, local residents and surfers alike. And the King of Rock, Elvis Presley was often seen wearing one in his younger days.
