Victory after year long Lynx Space Academy competition -

As head of the LYNX Space Academy®,  space pioneer and legend Buzz Aldrin has announced the 23 winners of a year-long global campaign for a trip to space.  With 1 million entries worldwide, lucky Oliver Knight from Malvern has won the space race, beating 87,000 other British hopefuls to claim his trip into orbit.

Oliver, aged 25 completed the final stage of the Lynx Space Academy competition in Florida yesterday, where 4 British finalists competed against one another in a series of gruelling physical and mental challenges which determined who would win the coveted trip to space. He will take his trip into space next year, breaking the sound barrier whilst flying 103 kilometres at the maximum airspeed possible. The engine will then cut off and he will see Earth as only 500 have before. The spaceship will reach ‘apogee’ at 103 km, at this point the lucky cadet will experience weightlessness in zero gravity before beginning the descent back to Earth.

Sneak Peek into Paul Costelloe's AW14 Collection to be shown at London Collections:Men in Jan 2014

For the 2nd consecutive year designer Paul Costelloe is supporting London Collections: Men with a sartorial British heritage collection.

Blended Jaspe yarns are used to create a modern yet classic British tweed and micro checks with a salt and pepper colour base injected with accents of mustard and Chianti. Waistcoats are crafted in the same fabric as the suit or designed with a slight subtle colour contrast.
Tartan is prominent with a modern twist to the  Blackwatch and Lindsay tartan:  an antique finish with flamboyant faux pony hair trimmings.
The collection includes a range of herringbone coats and bold oversize check jackets with hints of velvet and corduroy.
Pre Raphaelite painters and dark Art Nouveau interiors are referenced in the collection with opulent and luxurious fabrics of velvet and smooth satin in dark teal and navy with a hint of burnished gold.
Making its debut at London Collections: Men is the Costelloe and Sons diffusion line developed for the younger market with slimmer silhouettes for the more fashion conscious younger gentleman..

The phenomenon surrounding LYNX Apollo, the largest and most successful campaign in the brand’s 30-year history, is coming to its epic conclusion in December 2013 at the LYNX Space Academy®1 (L.S.A.). After receiving one million entries from all corners of the world, LYNX has selected four brave recruits to represent Great Britain. These recruits will have the opportunity to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey: a trip to space onboard a Space Expedition Corporation (Space XC) shuttle.
The final four were chosen after a shortlist of 250 people descended upon Westfield, White City to compete in L.S.A Live. The two-day event saw cadets compete in a series of physical and mental challenges including the giant “Launch Pad” – an 18m x 9m inflatable assault course, which is used by the British Army for testing fitness, stamina and agility. 

The four lucky cadets heading to Florida Space Camp to compete in the final challenge to go to space are – Joshua Ratcliffe, 21, a budding guitarist and student from Manchester, Nadav Eldar, 23, a Philosophy & Japanese student at the University of Leeds, Oliver Knight, 25, an Operations Engineer from Malvern in Worcestershire and Jocelino Rodrigues, a 19 year-old Aerospace Engineering student at the University of Bristol.
One hundred plus recruits from more than 60 countries will gather at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, FL to compete for the chance to receive one of 23 coveted tickets to space. There they will push the boundaries of their physical and mental limits by taking part in a series of L.S.A. space training missions to experience what life is like as an astronaut – from floating weightless onboard a Boeing 727, to experiencing pressure four times the force of gravity, to piloting a SIAI Marchetti Air Combat plane.
