Farah X Photographer Gavin Watson‏ + Digital Clothes Collection

For AW14, Farah menswear brand collaborates with photographer Gavin Watson to create a digital print collection which includes a bomber, shirt and t-shirt.

The print has been designed combining two images from Gavin’s back catalogue of work. Both images are taken from a rave club and features Gavin’s family and friends, making this collaboration a very personal one.

KENZO Creates Limited Edition Tiger Jumper in Partnership with Blue Marine Foundation‏

KENZO announces the second chapter in their ongoing partnership with the Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE)
 The French brand, led by creative duo Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, has created a limited edition Tiger sweater in a “Blue Marine Blue” to assist the foundation plans for ongoing protection of the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands and the Antarctic ecosystem in association with the Marine Reserves Coalition and the RSPB.

The rich waters around the islands are full of plankton and krill that support one of the largest and most varied populations of seabirds and marine mammals on Earth. On the seafloor, there is greater biodiversity and higher levels of endemism than in almost all other areas of the Southern Ocean.

BLUE and its fellow campaigners is calling for the creation of one of the world’s largest fully protected marine reserves around the South Sandwich Islands and also significant improvements to the way in which the waters around South Georgia are managed. Within these waters, the habitats of over 100 million seabirds including more than 1.5 million chinstrap penguins are threatened. Four million Antarctic fur seals and half the world’s population of southern elephant seals as well as sperm, sei and humpback whales, and the deep-water hydrothermal vents that support life forms new to science are all at risk. The region has a higher diversity of marine species than the Galapagos Islands, and is an area so rich in wildlife that is has been described as “the Serengeti of the Seas”.

Maharishi AW14 Skeuo Mimicry R.I.P.‏

For AW14 maharishi celebrates the 20th anniversary of its inception, and explores the theme 'Skeuo mimicry RIP'; camouflage and mimicry in the natural and digital worlds.

The title refers to the declining use of skeuo morphism, a design practice in which new technologies visually mimic their physical world versions. As we grow more accustomed to a life integrated with digital technology, these comparisons become less relevant, and new modes are adopted. When Apple launched iOS7, they abandoned most skeuo morphs.

The season’s embellishments are inspired by the camouflage systems perfected by nature such as the striped markings of tigers and the rosette patterns on leopards. These appear in disrupted and abstracted forms, infiltrated with pixellation.

 Upcycling, a vital component of every maharishi collection of the last 20 years, again takes centre stage in AW14 with Polish, Czech, Serbian and US military materials and garments being reworked and reshaped. As with all pieces from maharishi's recycled program, the source garments are ceremonially blessed, washed in saffron water and smudged with incense, symbolically disassociating each piece from its negative military past before being repurposed. By these processes, they are given a new and extended life,more positive purpose and a reduced environmental cost.

 In keeping with maharishi's ethos of respecting nature whilst utilising technology, external seam sealing features heavily, often on waterproof Sympatex fabrics and seam-sealed membrane jackets. This season maharishi again partners with renowned Swiss textile mill Schoeller in delivering organic cottons with performance qualities. These feature advanced moisture management combining two technologies in one textile: the external side being finished with a water repellent (hydrophobic) surface, whilst its internal(hydrophilic) side readily absorbs perspiration.

This year Maharishi commemorate the 70th anniversary of the iconic US airforce MA1 jacket. A capsule collection has been created in homage to this design classic,a perennial favourite in both military and civilian circles. As well as a maharishi version of the jacket, the capsule features trousers, tees, sweats and bags that utilise characteristic MA1 elements like orange Hi-Vis interiors, rib collars and its distinctive sleeve pocket.

Beretta Gallery hold party to celebrate their newly refurbished London store

Beretta Gallery London hosted a party/soiree  last week to celebrate their newly refurbished store - a cross between a hunting lodge and a gentlemen's club,

On the ground floor drinks were served including Beratta's very own labelled champagne whilst we were serenaded by live classical music.

One focal point was the unusual tie table created with large chopped wood stacked to create a hemisphere shape.  The actual shooting tie display brought an array of seasonal colours.

On the gound floor there is a small cosy room exclusively for womens wear.

The store is on 3 floors with a few accessories to catch your eye as you ascend the stairs,

The 1st floor shows more menswear and accessories

And a few gift and homeware pieces:

Whilst the top floor houses The Gun Room hosting the firearms, some of which date back a few centuries.
