Inspiration is in keeping with the brands British Heritage incorporating a respect for craftsmanship of the tailor and weaver in a contemporary manner .

At Paul Costelloe's presentation for London Collections:Men, Chelsea footballer Gary Cahill tries on a few pieces. Gary was also the brand ambassador for Paul Costelloe in 2013.

Italian inspired twisted yarns and blended Jaspe yarns are used to create a mix of modern yet classic British tweed and micro-checks with a salt and pepper colour base that’s infused with highlights of mustard and Chianti.

Tartan is prominent and the Blackwatch and Lindsay tartans have been modernised to include an antique finish with flamboyant faux pony hair trimmings ( check the collar).

Coats range from Herringbone to bold over check jackets with hints of velvet and corduroy.

Also inspired by Pre-Raphaelite painters and dark Art Nouveau interiors, the collection features opulent and luxurious fabrics in the form of velvet and smooth satin, infused with dark teal and navy with a hint of burnished gold.

A quirky touch for the shirt prints includes the fox, also Paul Costelloe's logo.

For the 2^nd consecutive year designer Paul Costelloe is supporting London Collections: Men with a sartorial British heritage collection.

Blended Jaspe yarns are used to create a modern yet classic British tweed and micro checks with a salt and pepper colour base injected with accents of mustard and Chianti. Waistcoats are crafted in the same fabric as the suit or designed with a slight subtle colour contrast.

Tartan is prominent with a modern twist to the  Blackwatch and Lindsay tartan:  an antique finish with flamboyant faux pony hair trimmings.

The collection includes a range of herringbone coats and bold oversize check jackets with hints of velvet and corduroy.

Pre Raphaelite painters and dark Art Nouveau interiors are referenced in the collection with opulent and luxurious fabrics of velvet and smooth satin in dark teal and navy with a hint of burnished gold.

Making its debut at London Collections: Men is the Costelloe and Sons diffusion line developed for the younger market with slimmer silhouettes for the more fashion conscious younger gentleman..

Paul Costelloe Man Spring/Summer 2012 collection at London Fashion Week

Paul Costelloe Man SS12 sees structured tailoring softened with romance.

Inspiration comes from the conservative Edwardian styles mixed with New Romantic and a nod to the 70s.

The show starts with a basic black, white and grey colour palette muted with the cross hatched pattern. 

70s style makes an entrance in a cross hatched  2 button jacket suit worn with a frilled shirt. The muted greyish blue and crosshatched pattern of the shirt tone down the 70s brashness.

A blazer (again cross hatched) with black ribbon piping brings a preppy look but is given a romantic twist with frills peeping through the bottom of its sleeves from a black collarless shirt. Although collarless the starkness is taken away by tiny frills around the neck.

Colour begins to appear in small doses, greys have a sheen to them in the trench coat ..

and pale pastels appear on shirts.

Voluminous gauze shirts are so sheer that the shades appear like water colours.  This white linen suit is worn with a hardly there blue and white gauze shirt.

A pale peppermint shirt is worn with  a cross hatched grey single breasted suit.  A subtle nod to the Edwardian style can be seen with its 3 buttons and higher lapels .

Then the colours become bolder and more romantic.

Adding a touch of the new romantics is the iridescent teal blue artist smock shirt with cowl neck ...

and the long loose fitting iridescent pink shirt with kick flare trousers.

The Edwardian influence comes in to its own on the bold raspberry pink suits with their long 6 button jackets 

and frock style pleated swing backs, and kick flare trousers.

Another is double breasted with slimmer cut trousers.

There were a few other double breasted suits but more reminiscent of the 40s with their turn-ups and softer neutral tones

Linen is the key fabric and the colour palette ranges from black and white, soft neutrals to the deepest indigo and the bright crayon colours.

Paul Costelloe Pop Up Store for AW11 Man in John Lewis until 29 Sep 11

After much acclaim following it’s debut last season, Paul Costelloe Man will once again be
offering the chance to own exclusive pieces from the Paul Costelloe Man AW11 catwalk collection
in conjunction with John Lewis.

For two weeks only from the 16th September, launching directly after Paul Costelloe’s opening
show at London Fashion Week, a select collection of pieces from Paul Costelloe’s opening AW11
LFW show will be available.
The 35 piece collection will comprise of shirts, suits, jackets, coats and a selection of accessories,
including scarves, handkerchiefs, ties and bow ties straight from the runaway. Only 7 of each piece
will ever be made and each will be individually numbered 1 to 7, so every customer will know they
own a unique item never to be reproduced.

For the first time the product will also be launched on the John Lewis website and therefore
available nationwide online too.

Paul Costelloe AW11 menswear at London Fashion Week

The inspiration for the collection was ‘Home Grown Fashion’ using fabrics of tweeds, plaids, and herringbones.

 

Lots of colour with a burgundy velvet smoking jacket and tartan double breasted coats, although preferred the more subtle grey double breasted coat with tie belt.

Paul Costelloe Man Spring/Summer 2011 collection at London Fashion Week

Winter is nearly upon us so our thoughts turn to Spring/summer as London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 begins. Even the weather warmed to the event as it went from crisp chilly days to end with blazing hot sunshine.

Early on Day one and opening the show at the BFC marquee catwalk was Paul Costelloe. Still sleepy, frantic shouting backstage put a smile on our bleary eyed faces.

Paul Costelloe Man SS11 collection has a defined palette of indigo blue, silver, white and scarlet.  All taking inspiration from a midnight summer sky with silvery moonlight playing on the lake and the red of a fiery star.

The silver metallic gives the classic mac an updated futuristic look,....................

..................whilst the chintz patterned shirt worn with slim beige trousers has a retro feel.

Four buttoned suits and trousers are fitted giving a slim silhouette  

Knee length tailored slim shorts look great with the white sleeveless linen jacket and white capped tee underneath, but are you ready  to wear them to work with a shirt and jacket?

Especially when they are scarlet  or chintz patterned. And yes it is no longer considered a fashion faux pas to wear socks and shoes with them.

At the end of the show, Costelloe's six sons strutted down the catwalk (albeit nervously) suited and booted..
