Entitled ‘Before and After’, the Wood Wood Autumn/Winter 2018 collection fuses the contemporary streetwear of Wood Wood with elements of Americana.
Classic American wardrobe stables are updated in look and feel, while the transition from childhood to adulthood works as the thematic framework for the collection.
The transition into adulthood is the main inspiration for the collection and several print stories speak to the theme of growing up and learning to stand on one’s own feet. ‘Leave Me Alone With Your Attention’, ‘Fan Club’ and ‘Sad Songs Make Me Happy’ all deal with this turbulent period in life where emotions run high and can be difficult to comprehend.
The ‘Before and After’ stories in the collection are mixed with traditional American elements such as a patchwork story, a collegiate story, an army surplus story and a raw denim story.
These elements are all part of traditional American youth culture and in the WWAW18 collection they are tweaked and reworked to complement the contemporary streetwear aesthetics of Wood Wood.
Key items in the collection include classic woollen coats with detachable nylon hoods and updated puffer jackets with Primaloft insulation.
After having collaborated with the best brands in the sneaker industry and in line with the collegiate theme of the collection, the WWAW18 collection additionally introduces a unisex sneaker inspired by classic 80s runners in four different iterations
The colour palette of the collection is centred around muted tones with pops of bright red and bright blue.
In consonance with the focal points of the collection, main materials include corduroy, raw denim, army twill, heavy wool, delicate silk and melange knit alongside more technical garments incorporating Primaloft insulation.

Amesh Debuts with a Gender Neutral Collection at London Fashion Week SS18
Amesh Wijesekera showcased his debut collection at London Fashion Week SS18 in collaboration with SRI, a luxury sustainable lifestyle label launching in February 2018.
In Sanskrit, ‘SRI’ means resplendent, a name which encapsulates the unique beauty of the design but also the pride and wonder of a nation looking to its future.
SRI is an inspiring bridge between two worlds. This trans-seasonalbrand (gender neutral) is a unique and creative meeting of the millennia-old wisdom of South Asia and the progressive, technologically advanced demands of global high fashion.
Low-tech meets high-tech in a progressive new addition to the luxury design market.
An alumnus of the AOD Colombo in Sri Lanka, Amesh captures the essence of his home country; celebrated by the sophisticated traveller as a tropical paradise, the island is filled with pristine white-sand beaches, lush tropical forests and breathtaking mountains.
The debut collection for SRI perfectly depicts the cultural inspiration of Early Ceylon; the history, lifestyle and fashions whilst Amesh creates a modern and contemporary range appealing to a cultured, carefree, adventurous consumer.
SRI is unique and Amesh has worked closely with design leaders in his native homeland; the range is a mixture of local craft blended with modern techniques; dip dyeing and screen prints are expertly blended with hand woven silks.
Working with local weaving villages, local craftspeople have highlighted their expertise through their intricate handcrafted overshots, twills, ombre and herring bone effects.
SRI serves as a source of comfort, self-confidence and self-expression as effortlessly in the urban jungles of London and New York in winter as amidst the rainforests and beaches of their island of origin in the blaze of summer.

YMC (You Must Create) AUTUMN/WINTER 2013/14
Designer Fraser Moss becomes nostalgic and looks back to the
1990’s for inspiration – the post punk era and the time YMC was launched
Viva Le Beret! - Sporting berets and wearing black, grey and
navy, the models have a look of the French Resistance. The beret is the collection’s statement piece
that cries freedom, revolution and rebellion. Plus it is set to be the ‘on’
trend headgear for the season.
Zip it! – Zips adorn the casual pieces of parachute chinos,
jumpsuits, a multi pocket silk bomber jacket and provide back to front as they
decorate the full length of the back of sweaters and cardigans.
Blazers combine the slim fit tailored style of the suit
jacket with the casual elasticated ribbed cuffs of the sweatshirt.
The covert coat has
an update with suede and leather trimmed collar instead of the traditional
velvet.
Accents of soft baby pink, pale orange and teal blue lighten
the otherwise sombre colour palette in sweater and shirt patterns, as colour
blocks on trousers and even on thick soled suede creepers.
A play on the golfing scene came to the ‘fore’ with intarsia
sweaters similar to the argyle pattern;
Coloured patterned socks on view;
And tartan trousers.
All bringing a touch of fun to the collection
Tartan also made it on to outerwear – short coats and trench
like jackets.
Another dominate pattern was the checkerboard on shirts,
scarves and sweaters, ranging from the large bold print to the smaller more subtle
print.
Will you dare to join the Beret revolution?
Available soon from
YMC Store at 23 Hanbury Street, London E1 6QR
