Aloha to the Hawaiian Shirt

The advantage of the short sleeved shirt is that you can go overboard with the pattern, so why not splash out with the Hawaiian shirt? Well you either love them or you hate them, but they do conjure up images of surf, sea and sand and are making a comeback as a retro summer look.

They look best as a holiday shirt and if you are conscious of your tummy, they make a great cover up with shorts or swimwear whilst on the beach.

Originally called the ‘Aloha’ shirt, Chinese merchant Ellery Chun and his sister started creating these brightly coloured floral shirts in the 1930’s from kimono fabric which soon became a hit with the tourists, local residents and surfers alike. And the King of Rock, Elvis Presley was often seen wearing one in his younger days.
