Agi & Sam AW16 Menswear Collection

This season, Agi & Sam explore a utopia where ultilitarian and military clothing is transformed in to the uniform of peace and communality.

Video of the finale show:

Outerwear takes utility detailing and subverts it, playing with the placement of pockets or creating fastenings from panels taken from protection vests.

Fabrics are contrasted on coats, while rucksacks are attached to gilets for a new take on practicality

The Agi & Sam raglan sleeve oversized coat comes in soft cashmere blend,

while neoprene macs are cropped and field jackets and hoodies come in woven distorted camouflage in various shades.

Lightweight knitwear is key with cream cotton knits that patch panels of vertical ribbing against horizontal,

or fine rollnecks in colour blocked bands of horizontal brown, navy and cream.

Wool pants are wide, and flare slightly from the knee.

Agi & Sam AW15 Menswear Collection

Inspiration began with a trip to Agi's family home in Yorkshire. His mother showed them some drawings of a clothing range he'd designed when he was four years old. It was called 'The Coolman Collection' They then got in touch with their old primary schools to ask today's pupils about their favourite clothes and what they wished clothing could do.

Coats and jackets have been ripped apart and deconstructed as puzzles. These were given to childrem who were asked to put the garments back together with Velcro. These patchworks formed the basis of entirely new garments, the Velcro panels of which are interchangeable.

Tailored jackets and trousers are inside out to reveal their construction, the lapels sewn down. Both the inside of the jacket pockets and the trouser front pockets of the suit below can clearly be seen due to the bright contrast of their orange fabric to the darker colour of the rest of the garment.  .

Inside out trousers also reveal their satin lining reaching down to the knees.

Prints merge bold VHS covers with prescription drug packaging.

Knitwear is a collaboration with Jaeger with coloured panels of fine wool patchworked over each other, each left with a raw edge. All fabric has been sponsored by LANIFICIO CERUTI. Shose are Adidas Superstars

Main colour palette was of primary colours.

Agi & Sam SS14 Collection

Truly making travelling on public transport cool, prints from this collection were inspired by the upholstery on bus and train seats

Oversized long sleeved white tees and white trousers sported small placement prints at the front creating silhouettes of skinnier short sleeved crew neck tees and shorts. Maybe an alternative to dieting?

Suits were in colourfully loud jazzy lines with trousers skinny and ankle skimming. Large bags in collaboration with Chapman were a combination of soft leather and the same transport inspired prints in plush velour fabrics. www.chapmanbags.com

Still jazzy but more toned down, the monochrome look was used.

Shorts were knee length and boxy or were tailored with pleated fronts. The footwear was in collaboration with shoe designer Oliver Sweeney. Here the calf leather trainer with thick contrasting soles takes on a clean minimalistic style void of eyelets and laces. www.oliversweeney.com

The collection was not all patterns and prints; the plain fabrics were block colours of summer sky blues and turquoise on blazers ranging from slim with long sleeves to the oversized with short sleeves.

Bright pops of oranges brought an alternative to the cool blues. Check out the Oliver Sweeney derby brogues with their orange nylon tape detailing.

Three quarter length coats were trimmed with rubberised taped seams around the cuffs and creating a border around the contrasting blocks of colour.Left:
Worn with white Oliver Sweeney Chelsea style boots with clear soles embossed with an Agi & Sam pattern.

Colours were not all bold. Both the pale pink shade, the rounded shoulders devoid of epaulettes and the wide lapels softened the usually structured style of the trench coat.

Pristine white was given texture with a tactile and embossed bobbled pattern.

UK Stockists include Liberty, Mr Porter and Harvey Nichols.

What to Wear at Glorious Goodwood Races

Although traditional attire for Glorious Goodwood Races, the wearing of the linen suit is not obligatory but a jacket is. And remember even in hot weather you need to wear a tie or cravat with the jacket.

Subtlety is the style of the bronze Navaho Herringbone linen jacket. You may have to look twice to notice the slim piping around the lapels, pockets and cuffs in a ditsy floral pattern. Blending in but more noticeable is the wider trim on the bottom of the front opening. Check out the jacket lining in the brand’s signature teapot tailor print. Fabric: 100% linen. Price £350
