Enough with the scruff? Braun LFW SS18

· This weekend, London’s fashion scene staged their biannual takeover of Zone 1 for the SS18 shows · Those in the know are saying goodbye to their winter beards for the warmer months
· The new Braun Series 3 ProSkin is the perfect tool for men with skin not used to a clean-shave

Themes of androgyny, ‘anything goes’ and the seemingly inescapable allure of 70s style dominated the fashion catwalks this week. Meanwhile, the streets outside the shows were lined with some of the best-dressed men from around the world, arguably just as influential as the headline designers themselves, with their style and grooming choices also impacting trends and sales globally.
The result? Men up and down the country are becoming ever more experimental with their looks, and expressing their style beyond their clothing choices, with facial hair grooming becoming one of the key ways in which they show their colours.
In January, Braun reported that the most popular style sported by Fashion Week attendees was stylised stubble, with groomed goatees emerging as another firm favourite.

For SS though, we are witnessing a return to a youthful and fresh look, with a clean shave dominating both inside and outside the shows.
For SS, men seem to be saying goodbye to their winter beards for the warmer months – a smart choice, and one which will doubtless help many to avoid the dreaded “beard reverse-tan”. But how should you go about sheering away months of growth without wreaking havoc on the skin below?
The key is to starting with a good trimmer, such as the new Braun Beard Trimmer, which has detachable smart-clippers, making it the perfect tool for trimming facial hair. Bit-by-bit is best – start with the longest guard first, and work your way down to the shortest, before going in with your shaver. Skin that has been covered with facial hair may be much more prone to shaving-related irritation, so for the full clean shave, you will need a shaver that is designed for men with sensitive skin.
The new Braun Series 3 ProSkin shaver has advanced MicroComb technology, a comb-like structure that guides the beard hairs into the cutting element of the trimmer and reduces overall shaving time and thus skin irritation by cutting short and long hairs simultaneously.
What’s more, the shaver’s SensoFoils adapt to every facial contour to offer a comfortable shave that is faster than ever before.
Once the job is done, use a gentle facial scrub to remove the dead skin cells that the beard was holding on to, and a light moisturiser with SPF to protect the skin that has been shielded from the light of day for months!
The new Braun Series 3 ProSkin is available at  Amazon and other retailers from RRP £39.99 (price at the sole discretion of the retailer).

Male Grooming Myth Busters by ManCave‏

Myth #1 - The more shaving gel, the better the shave
False. When it comes to shaving gel, less is more. Smothering your chin in gel could leave you with dry skin and an empty shaving cream bottle sooner than you'd expected. The key is finding a cream that will provide even coverage and allow the blade to glide smoothly across the face with a small amount of product.
ManCave ShaveGel is infused with a Pre-Shave treatment to soften the beard while preparing skin for a close and comfortable shave, using only a small amount of product.

Myth #2 - Moisturisers will make oily skin oilier
Wrong! Contrary to popular belief, using moisturiser on oily skin will not increase oiliness. Moisturisers are designed to lock in the skin's naturally occurring moisture, as well as protect the skin from the daily elements.
ManCave’s natural face Moisturiser is enriched with bioactives to create a soothing easily absorbed formula, which rejuvenates, retextures and helps firm skin leaving a smooth matte finish.

Myth #3 - Men's and women's products are the same
False. Men’s skin is up to 20% thicker than women's. It's much oilier and ages differently too, so it needs different vitamins and minerals, which means different products.
ManCave’s products are developed specifically for men and the bold branding is an unapologetic statement of masculinity.

Myth #4 - Shaving after a shower is better Curveball.
This one is actually true. Shower steam opens up the pores for a closer, cleaner shave and to minimise skin irritation.
To get even more out of your shower, use an invigorating shower gel such as ManCave’s Lemon & Oak ShowerGel which has been developed to uplift and stimulate with a range of essential oils serving to prepare you for whatever the day holds.

McLaren drivers signatures engraved on Gillette razor, smaller than a grain of sand

Gillette, the world’s leading male grooming brand, and McLaren Mercedes, one of the most prestigious and successful teams in F1 history, have created an unique piece of sport memorabilia razor so precise, you’ll need a microscope to see it.

Only five razors of this kind will reach consumers and each demonstrates the two brands’ passion for precision engineering. This precise memorabilia will be framed and awarded to the world’s biggest fans of Gillette and McLaren.

Gillette and McLaren have already put the performance of racing into consumers’ hands and their shaving experience by launching a Formula 1 inspired limited edition Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor pack. Now, they are pushing precision technology further, combining two icons of modern engineering in an unexpected way: by individually engraving the McLaren F1 MP4-29 car and McLaren drivers’ signatures each onto the edge of Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor blades.

The result is a piece of memorabilia so precise, it’s invisible to the naked eye. A matter of micrometers makes this memorabilia the breakthrough it is: the engraving is just 0.7mm wide, and 0.24mm high – dimensions smaller than a grain of sand and even smaller than pinhead.  This was done with the help of a scanning electron microscope and an electron column which were used to project a focused beam of ions onto the conductive surface of the Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor blade. The nanoscientists involved in this project spent around 25-30 hours trying various different designs, sizes and ratios, to get the precise final result.

Murdock's new Body & Skin Care Available from the Shop at Bluebird

When Murdock London opened their first barbers store in Shoreditch in 2006, they brought the ‘old fashioned ‘male grooming experience back to the fore front and provided the man about town an alternative to the unisex hairdressing salons.  Here he could experience the luxury of a traditional wet shave plus the modern pampering facilities of facials and hairstyling.  The decor is masculine and reminiscent of the ‘Good Old Days’ when barber shops were thriving and making a ‘killing’ (especially Sweeney Todd).

Murdock press day at The Shop at Blubird

Now Murdock have gone one step further and have launched their first body and skincare range this summer.  Like the concept of the Murdock stores, these products aim to bring a little masculine touch in to the world of pampering.

The simple packaging has quirky old fashioned sketches of quintessentially British sporting activities such as rowing and fencing, plus the sartorial British bowler hat and pocket watch.  This old style of ‘Britishness’ is continued in the inspiration for the range as the  ingredients used include English garden herbs like mint, thyme and rosemary. Plus quince, a fruit which was very popular in the Victorian times.

The range shows an easy grooming routine:
Cleansing Facial Wash -for every day.  Includes extracts of basil, mint, rosemary, thyme and wheat.  £24
Exfoliating Facial Scrub - once or twice a week to deep cleanse the pores. £24
Anti Aging Eye Serum – with concentrated cucumber distillate to hydrate and soothe the eye area. £36
Daily Facial Moisturiser - extracts of horsetail, pine, and rosemary £26
Lip balm – a fruit cocktail of extracts of apricot, avocado, cranberry and peppermint £8
Hand & Body Wash – basil, honey, peppermint and thyme £18
Moisturising Hand Cream – shea butter, cocoa butter, macadamia nut and sweet almond. Scent rosemary. £24

it is quite daunting for a guy to enter in to the female orientated beauty section of a department store looking for facial washes and moisturisers especially if he hasn’t used them before.  So to be able to wander in to a male orientated environment and ask for advice on skincare products must be a less challenging experience.

Available from the Murdock London stores and the Shop at Bluebird Kings Rd - An ever evolving concept store which is Cheslsea's secret treasure
