What We Wear SS18 Collection at London Fashion Week

Titled 'Bring Your Game' Tinie Tempah presents his second contemporary collection with an interactive presentation.

A continuous WWW design circles the tops of socks and down the sides of trousers.

Channeling the brand's love of sport this collection is presented on a custom built basketball half court in order to showcase the garments versatility and ability to thrive under physical strain whilst managing to still provide comfort.

WWW have collaborated with footwear brand Converse with a bespoke remaking of their famous skate shoe - The One Star.

Original Penguin AW17 - Cafe Counter Culture

For this collection, the brand looks towards The New York School of the Fifties. Jack Kerouac, Jackson Pollack, Lucian Carr, Lucian Freud and Alan Ginsberg and the generation that they inspired. - They meet in the cafes and bars of the Lower East side in Manhattan New York to talk about how they want to change the world. They wear an anti-uniform to distinguish themselves from the crowd.

Their style draws from an eclectic medley of sources to create an irreverent wardrobe that challenges the classic look of the status quo.

Simple and clean are re-invented to create modern and unique with sometimes the most subtle of touches like tone on tone texture shifts of matte to shiny.

Jackson's Pollock’s technique of pouring and dripping paint is thought to be one of the origins of the term action painting. Pollock was able to achieve a more immediate means of creating art, the paint now literally flowing from his chosen tool onto the canvas. The Splatter story takes inspiration from the Pollocks famed abstract expressionist drips and gives our knits, wovens, and outerwear a fresh, artistic 50’s / 90’s update.

D.GNAK SS18 menswear collection at London Fashion Week:Mens

For SS18, South Korean menswear brand D.GNAK makes its debut at London Fashion Week:Men.

The primary inspiration is from 'inevitable interaction' i.e. the coming together of two powers Yin and Yang to one stoppable end.

Whilst the collection continues with D.GNAK's trademark of achromatic fusion of traditional Korean menswear and Western tailoring. this season they have introduce colour - beiges, mustards and yellows.

Accents of bold red signifying destiny - a word that appears in Sanskrit embroidered into garments with trailing threads.

Utility details accessorise the minimal silhouettes with strings, zips, belt loops and buckles.

D.GNAK collaborated with Universal Brand development to create five items inspired by Universal Pictures 'The Mummy' .

 Like the collection, it is a narrative shot through with ideas of destiny, inevitability and culture that cannot be constrained by time nor place.

Mihara Yasuhiro SS18 Collection at London Fashion Week Men

In today's modern world, people are constantly typing away busily on their laptops and smartphones, interacting with strangers in a never-ending stream of information. However, when the devices are finally switched off, a blank mirror appears in the screen. Mihara Yasuhiro has looked into this mirror. #hashtag #hashtag #hashtag.... What does it even mean?

This new form of communicating, Instagram included, is just bizarre. Mihara's view on the hashtag frenzy has been projected onto a fictitious music group, #BLANK MIRRORS.
 A little nerdy, they represent an antithesis to the "Insta-addict", adorned in mocking patches and stickers.

 For Mihara Yasuhiro, irony is a way of expressing his own creativity and this is particularly evident this season.

Not Guilty Homme presented its AW17 collection during Paris Fashion Week

MAN presents Feng Chen Wang AW17 menswear

The MAN project was established by Fashion East and Topman to support and launch new menswear fashion designers. For AW17, MAN presents Feng Chen Wang.

For her AW17 collection, Feng Chen Wang takes inspiration from the world of senses. In China, it is understood that there are six senses not five - an additional one that resides in the mind and consists of impressions, feelings, perception and volition.

This realm of of impressions and feelings is not a black and white one, but one of many shades. Wang is learning to embrace the grey area which is demonstrated very literally in this season's colour palette where ash meets charcoal, gunmetal and silver.....

.....- with the addition of an electric yellow.

There is a focus on the body, with flesh tones employed along with skin like textures such as leather.

The way fabric covers and interacts with the human form is subverted and magnified: rumples becomes ruching which in turn become  Jenny Saville  like rolls.

Material is gathered around the body and clothing becomes cocooning perhaps reflecting a fundamental human need - to be safe.
