Ximon Lee AW17 presented GQ China

Ximon Lee views each season as a study. For AW17, his study and title of his collection is SHAME.

The Chinese symbol for shame is essentially a combination of  the symbols for beauty and ugly, leading to the exploration of the lines between conscious and unconscious.

However, SHAME serves more as a play on material memories - illustrated through hidden signals or messages -
Structured, oversized coats cover the body , whilst their high slits flash the legs.

Deconstructed leather bras hang loosely over one side, Amazonian warrior style.

Engineered cutaways reveal glimpses of skin bringing a vulnerability to the collection.

Lee masks the the models through clusters of beaded pearls or sheer panels.

Sharp and exaggerated collars juxtapose with loosely draped voluminous trousers.
Like Yin and Yang, a tough leather bomber jacket tinged in shades of oxblood shares the catwalk with a smooth velvet full length coat in soft grey adorned with a scattering of pearls.

Ximon Lee SS17 Men's Collection (presented by GQ china)

Ximon Lee views each season as a study, the realization of a sustainable concept to be revisited for the next study after.

His second study is SS17 HARD which is a further exploration of the concealing and uncovering of the body.

The collection is inspired by a growing boy's journey and how his perception of that which is hard and tough is framed by his preconceptions.

The inspiration is reflected in fragile materials that are tailored in hard silhouettes. playing with conventional workwear and unconventional embellishment and placements.

Harsh techniques contrast the serene and the disturbed, including acid-wash, silicone concealing, latex coating and tailored tarpaulin.

Sean Suen AW16 menswear collection presented by GQ China

Drawing inspiration on Chinese chess, Sean Suen shows the connection between himself and his other self in the parallel world.

Garments are intricately layered with mixed fabrics and contrasting cuts, focusing on stylish and functional silhouettes.

Video of the show's finale:

The collection plays with the opposites such as the chessboard where it's not only about two sides against each other but also about the communication between you and your opponent; history and reality; cultures of east and west.

The criss cross garments follow the pattern of the chessboard and shows a collision between insistence and compromise.

Round metal pieces studding on the apparels symbolise the antique idea that the earth was square and heaven round.

Other pieces take the appearance of Chinese chess pieces which should move according to different rules with imagination and creation which indicates the various paths in life.

Sean Suen SS16 Menswear at London Collections: Men

Presented by GQ China, this was Sean Suen's first show on the international stage.

For his SS16 collection, he drew his inspiration from his own journey to the West.

The collection is a myriad of cultures and exotic locations experienced through his travels. It serves as an assortment of defining moments in which Sean's Chinese heritage and identity meets the new alien experiences of the West.

The masculinity and structure of the European suit is paired with the elegance of the Chinese robe.

The structure of the suit is loosened by the fluidity of fine Chinese silks.

The collection uses the form and structure of the West to contain the movement and rhythm of the East.
